AUGUST FOREL AWARD 2006/27/03

The award is given every 4th year in connection with an IOGT World Congress, and was awarded for the first time in Zurich 1986.
Candidates for the award may be persons who have made significant efforts in one of the following areas;
• Through research which has created and contributed to new knowledge on the individual and social harmful impacts from the use of alcohol.
• Through the distribution of such knowledge to the public.
• Through developing and increasing legislation which more effectively limits and regulates the production, the trade, the distribution and use of alcohol beverages.
The latest August Forel award was presented to former International President Helge Kolstad at the World Congress in Basel, Switzerland taking place 30 July-5 August 2006.
