Regional camp in Guinea Bissau 2008/18/04
During the Easter week in March IOGT Guinea Bissau organised a regional youth camp for the countreis of West Africa. There were representatives from IOGT Guinea Bissau, JES Guinea Bissau, IOGT Liberia, IOGT Sierra Leone, ASPAT Senegal as well as regional partners Merite Senegal, JES Gambia and Youth Ambassadors of Peace also from Gambia.
The youth camp was located in Sao Vicente, about 40 km outside the capital Bissau. During the week there were several activites planned. The morning hours, before the sun became to hot, was reserved to making bricks for the activity house that has been planned for the village inhabitants as well as the JES youth. Apart from that the youth played games and sports and got to know eachother. They also had invited guests who gave talks on various subjects such as HIV/Aids.
Some fo the participants had also come to Guinea Bissau to plan a workshop or seminar for IOGT members in 2009 in West Africa. Representing IOGT International was Jenny Gustafsson, IOGT International office in Mölnlycke, Sweden and Priska Hauser from IOGT Switzerland and coordinator of the Regional workshop in 2009. The outcome of the first planning meting was that needs as well as the assets of each organisations was established. The next step will be to decide on the location.
